Café Luso is the most renowned Fado and Folklore Restaurant in Portugal. Founded in 1927, its history is the history of Fado music itself, since all major singers and musicians performed here.
Located in the Bairro Alto district, one of the most typical and historically rich in Lisbon, and also the birthplace of the 1980's nightlife boom that was to transform behaviours and mentalities; Café Luso occupies the charming former wine cellars of a 17th century Palace which survived the devastating 1755 earthquake.
An establishment of reference, for decades we have pleased our most demanding Clients and have been quoted very favourably in the best newspapers, magazines and guides of the Travel Industry. Our daily aim is to achieve our best, by having excellent professionals joining our team (led by proprietor João Pedro Ferreira-Borges), modernizing our equipments and reinventing our dishes. As we want you to enjoy returning to us. As Fado is invisibly shaped by the Tradition that doesn´t have translation, Café Luso invites everyone who once visited us to come back and feel the sounds of the Portuguese soul. Café Luso has been recomended on Simonseeks.com where you can find a wide selection of reviews, ranging from the best places to eat in Portugal to the cheapest hotels in Rome.
