THE UNION BETWEEN LATIN JAZZ AND FADO
The idea came from a Cuban, Óscar Gomez, musician and producer, resident in Spain, winner of 5 Grammys. He wanted to bring fado closer to Latin jazz and “enrich it harmoniously,” respecting melodies and lyrics.
He gathered a handful of fado singers to record fado songs, namely Carlos do Carmo, Hélder Moutinho, Carminho, António Zambujo, Raquel Tavares, Marco Rodrigues, Ana Bacalhau, Cuca Roseta, Maria Berasarte and Joana Almeida.
The result is certainly curious and rich. The CD hits stores on November 3rd.
